NATALIE DRAWN

Hey look! A four post September! It's practically an anomaly since this whole summer it seems I can only manage to squeak out two posts a month or something stupid like that. Like, what even is writing a post about anymore? I am apparently just way too cool for it, is what.

Until now, because here we are!

So, I have been doing these art things and drawing on chalkboards for people who decided that I do it well enough to pay me with real money. It's becoming quite the adventure over here, and then I even ordered business cards and just, what am I doing with my life? Please.

And as I sat in front of my computer trying to piece the perfect amount of information onto my pretty little 2.5 by 3 in cards, it mildly irked me that I didn't really have a business name for this business card. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that this is not something you do willy nilly and I needed to think about what to call my business before I just rattled something off and then was stuck with it forever, because that's how the world works.

I know.

Yesterday evening I grabbed my charcoal pencils and prismacolors and my new toned paper sketchbook and I laid on my bed drawing in a zoned out kind of way, like you do. I'm not sure exactly when inspiration struck, but I remember thinking about my sister's blog Miranda Writes which is incredibly punny and absolutely hilarious and then I got kind of sad, like why doesn't my name have something funny I can do with it?

I mean, Natventures is like Nat + adventures which is cool in its own way, but also not something I'm going to call a business for artwork, know what I mean? Anyway, I got a little pouty and turned my attention to instagram for a minute to distract myself, which, this is when the stars and the planets aligned in just the most beautifully perfect way and all of a sudden it hits me upside the head.

There are these instagram accounts of artists with their name plus draws or paints or whathaveyou and then I texted my sister about my stupidly awesome idea.

me (paraphrasing): so i had a brilliant beyond brilliant idea because you're Miranda Writes and I've been racking my brain for a good business name and ARE YOU READY FOR THE BEST IDEA YOU'VE EVER HEARD IN YOUR LIFE?

her: i suppose

(she's so nonchalant. she has no idea i'm about to blow her freaking mind.)

me: NATALIE DRAWN

And then there was a loud explosion because of all the awesome that just happened right there so I went and I changed the name on my art blog and redesigned my header because what else do you do when you're harboring intense feelings of inspiration? Right.

PS you can click the artwork tab at the top of my page and it will direct you over to my art blog. but also, i'm kind of bad at updating it. except, for added bonus points it links to my portfolio which is actually more updated than the blog. you know, inspiration comes in waves and all. it'll all get caught up soon enough.

A Perfect Midnight

Yesterday was New Year's Eve, in case you didn't know. And yesterday I did a really rad thing. Like, really super rad here folks, you don't even know.

You see, Somebody-Very-Important had himself a birthday yesterday. And I was missing him something fierce to boot. I had been planning this since before I left for home after finals week and I was super stoked that it was all going to work out.

I left town at 2:00 on the dot headed south. I put on some rocking tunes and sang my lungs out while blasting the heat on my poor little frozen piggies. I'm sure it was a sight to behold, but then again, I usually am pretty awesome when I try to drive and sing and heat up all at the same time. I multitask like a champ.

Casually I texted SVI...."Hey what are you up to today? :)"  And I chatted him up off and on to find out where he would be when I got to town. He ended up back at his house a couple minutes before I got there which was perfect timing. I walked in the door to two very surprised boys, which totally and completely made my entire day.

To further my award of best girlfriend of the year, I took him out to dinner at a nice restaurant. I caught him staring at me a couple times from across the table. "What?" I asked him with a smile. He put his hands on the table and said, "I just didn't expect you back so soon!" as I placed my palms on his.

I had been asking him about his birthday to keep up the ruse that I wouldn't be there for it. He said it was a good day, but that it didn't feel different really from any other day. I wanted to make it special for him. Sitting next to him in a quiet moment he whispered the word thanks in my ear. "For what?" I asked, my voice low. "For coming down here. For dinner. It was the best present," he answered. My heart melted a little bit.

I think my favorite thing to do is surprise people. I can be a pretty rough and tumble person when I want to be...I mean, I mostly hang out with boys so you kind of have to be that way. But I really like being nice and sweet too - it scores you a lot of points. Plus it makes me happy to see other people happy. I like to think we are all that way.

Because his birthday also coincides with that somewhat famous holiday, you know the one, to celebrate the incoming of a new year and all, we went to a party with a bunch of friends. I was sitting on the back porch with my friend Kevin and his cigarette when I heard them start the countdown. SVI was somewhere inside and my only thought was that I had to get to him before the stroke of midnight. Without even looking at Kevin, I turned in my chair and threw open the door. My eyes darted around the room, scanning, analyzing.

7...6...5...

I spotted him in the doorway of the kitchen, his back was turned to me.

4...3...2...

I grabbed his arm and turned him around to face me right as the countdown ended. And good gravy, I tell you what, that was the best New Year's kiss I've ever had in the history of being old enough and having someone to actually kiss at midnight. We were all giddy from the excitement of the moment, and some of us from the booze too, as is tradition. But I can't explain the rush of emotion I felt when the ball dropped and we lip locked and then he just held me, just for a moment. And then it was 2012, and it was perfect.

Today I went back to his house for a while before I drove back north to hang out with my family for a couple more days before school starts back up. I was reading a book on the couch while the SVI and his roommate were playing COD. Lost in my story, I was jolted back to reality when SVI's finger started poking my leg. Let the record show that I am loath to be poked, and he is the only person in the history of ever that gets away with it.

I turned my attention from the print on my page to his unshaven face and this is what he says to me: "Hey, I'm bragging over here. Pay attention!" At which point my eyes get wide, my mouth drops and I look over at our other friend as if to ask "Did he really just say that?" When all of a sudden SVI is wrapping me in his arms, laughing, with his face buried in my neck.

Yes, I picked a real keeper. Told you. And that is the story of how I earned the best girlfriend of the year award. Jealousy. You know you have it.

How did you ring in the new year?

Word Rambling And More Paint Hate

It occurred to me that I have yet to post anything since April started, and well, that's just a shame. It's not that I've been too busy to write anything, it's just that every time I sit down in front of my computer and enter blogworld, all of the contents of my brain escape.

My fingers start getting ahead of my mind, and then I start omitting words from sentences, typing letters out of order, and well, it just ends up being riotous and forcing me to get out the pitchfork and lanterns while assembling a small militia of grammar warriors to round everything back up. I wish it was as fun as it sounds, but believe me, word-wrangling is actually quite perilous at best. One may end up with paper cuts, and we all know fun those are.

But in all seriousness, I really have been up to a lot of nothing. And by nothing I mean lounging around knee deep in homework and painting and charcoal, and I just can't even tell you what color my hands are supposed to be anymore. Sometimes they are green and blue and brown and sometimes I think I'm turning into a Labrador from 101 Dalmatians. At the moment I am human toned, but who knows how long that will last?

Probably until tomorrow at about 2:30 in the afternoon when my painting class begins. It will all be downhill from there you know. First it will start off with a smidgen of this color, a dollop of that, and before you know it I'm a rainbow. Lovely. And you know what else? None of my colors will match what they're supposed to match, because I am just that good at painting, you know.

They teach you in art classes throughout the years that great artists are never understood during their life times. A lot of famous artists were "bad" at art in school too, they had teachers who told them they should just quit and take up dentistry or some such line of garbage. I think that means I must just be really great at art, since my artwork almost always looks absolutely and entirely nothing like anyone else's artwork in any of my classes.

At least that must mean I'm just awesome enough to have my own style? I think yes, definitely.

But really, as the years go by and the more art classes I have under my belt, I'm starting to realize that I really don't create art the same way these other art students do. I wish I had pictures of my classmates artwork to show you, because some of them are simply amazing. And trust me, it's not that I don't think my artwork is amazing and I'm not putting myself down, but my pieces just don't look like theirs do. And that leaves me wondering, what exactly am I doing differently?

And maybe that doesn't matter. I create what I create and it looks how it looks whether or not it looks like how I want it to, or maybe how my instructor wants it to. But at least I do it, right? That counts, right? I mean, my colors may not match, and my texture might be different, but I just put my own spin on the original. I'm an artist like that.

Really, I don't even know where to begin. I think it's just atrocious, and I kind of hate it a lot, honestly. The people are my favorite part, but if I could just scrap this whole thing I would. Remember how I told you that I'm not great at mixing and matching colors? Here is your proof.

There are some things I like about this painting, but I'm not really proud of it. I'm not too upset though, because we have several more projects in the next couple of weeks, so I think I'll have more than enough chances to redeem myself.

I mean, we'll see what happens.

And Just Exactly WHAT Is The Burning Ball Of Gas In The Sky?

Wait? It's the sun?

Noooooooooo. You're lying.

Wait? Really?

Well, can you tell it to stop shining in my eyes and giving my heart false hopes about when exactly Spring could be on its way?

Kthnx.

Seriously. It's January. Say it with me - all together now - jan-you-wear-eeee. January. It is not springtime. It's actually still the middle of winter.

So tell me then, why dear, dear Prince Charming was walking around outside without a jacket on and he wasn't freezing to death. Last year you couldn't even think about going outside without getting frostbite.

Last year it looked like this outside.

So tell me please, because I'm still confused. What is this sun, and why is it here so early?

Honey, It's Cold Outside

Is it really December already?

I feel like yesterday I moved into this forsaken dormitory, only to turn around to shut the door and find myself shivering my buns off in negative degree weather sans any sign of that white flaky stuff they write songs about.

Thanksgiving break snuck up on me like Sneaky Snake going after your root beer. (Please tell me at least one of you out there caught my reference to the Tom T Hall song?)

(And apparently snuck isn't a word? It's being underlined in red. But sneaked just doesn't right to me. Call me a bad grammar user (HA!) but I'm sticking with snuck because I'm stubborn.)

Anyway, back to Thanksgiving break - because it wasn't really long enough and then it seemed to thwart motivation for school with promises of "But we only have three weeks left!" And lemme just say, motivation to do three more weeks of work is like dangling chocolate in front of my sister and then telling her she has to run a marathon in order to scarf down said chocolate like there was no tomorrow.

The DP
loves her some chocolatey treats. Doesn't matter what time of year, who made the chocolate delight, and the darker it is the better. She can be easily bribed with chocolate too - just keep that in mind if you ever find yourself on her bad side.

But November is Novemore and December has brought upon our college campus a reign of frozen terror. One can not venture out of doors without a numb sensation engulfing their entire being. One must also keep touching one's nose whilst walking to class in order to ensure that frost bite has not incurred and succeeded with leaving oneself nose-less. Because a face without a nose is just ridiculous. I mean, lets be honest.

And besides that fact that it seems 2009 has decided to be the fastest year ever, as well as this semester seemingly whirring past, it's only a matter of days before I embark on a trip to SoCal to visit with family for the occasion of the Christmas holiday.

Can I just say that it's still perfectly find to wish someone a Merry Christmas? I mean does everyone get offended when that is in fact the holiday that a majority of us intend to celebrate during this festive season? I know full well that there are other holidays during this time in which people tend to participate, but would you be offended if Christmas was your holiday of choice and someone wished you a happy Hanukkah?

Really?

Okay, so I feel like this post is slightly random and full of useless bits of fluff tied together under the assumption that December has moved in far too fast for my liking?

Oh yeah, I remember why I started this post.

My family already put up their tree! With out me! Oy! It doesn't feel like it's far enough into December to be putting up a tree.

I feel kind of left out.

But on the plus side, I think I've called my mom on the telephone at least once every day since I've been back at school. It's turning into a daily ritual. And since Tues. and Thurs. I walk home from the coffee shop sans company, it's nice to talk to her while my legs move back and forth trying to transport my torso back to my room while also not falling off at the hips because they are so numb...

The Applied Theory

Meet Darth:

He is single, sexy, and loves long walks on the beach. Nevermind that he's just a skull, it's not important.

So in Art 111 we were supposed to draw skulls by covering our pages in Charcoal (or graphite, as the case may be) and show different values by lifting off the charcoal with an eraser.

I am loath to draw skulls.

I didn't like doing it in contour lines - and I certainly don't like doing it now. Though I must admit that I am far more in love with this skull than my previous.

During the drawing process I had the skull mostly completed, but I had lacked in the fabric department on which the skull was placed. My prof told me that there is a subject and ground, and depending on the composition of your subject-ground, you could say certain things with your art. So I needed to draw the fabric because if I just left the skull in a void, it would make the viewer feel uncomfortable. Understandable.

Enter extreme whit and philosophy from my Art 205 class.

"So then I don't need to draw the fabric," I said. "What if I want to make the viewer feel uncomfortable because I don't like drawing skulls and drawing them makes me feel uncomfortable."

He told me that was a good point and he couldn't argue with it.

BOOM SHAKA LAKA.
P.S. I had to draw the fabric anyway.

Critique This

And I don't mean my rosy red lips. Not that my lips are rosy. Or red, actually. They're really more pink colored....and kinda chapped....just sayin'.

What I do mean though, is my Design Processes Studio Class. You know, the one class I have Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 in the evening until 7:20. Gag me with a spoon. When I signed up for this class, I had no idea what 'Design Processes' entailed, and therefore I had no clue what impending doom awaited my naive arrival.

Indeed it was what I will call artistic hell.

You see, design processes is a class for architecture majors. This is because you are more focused on designing things than you are focused on the art. Unfortunately for me, this class is required for all art majors of any kind so I really have no choice except to take the class and get it over with.

Mostly what we have been doing in said hellish class is critiquing other students work. So far we have been in school for three weeks and have already turned in two projects. Both of which I thought entirely too hard about and resented doing before I even completed them. However, the critiquing process is much, much more boring and loathsome than I had ever anticipated.

I feel like I'm in one of those movies scenes where the weather is always too hot and you're stuck in a room full of people. Like a classroom. The walls are an ugly urine color and your teacher's voice roams on like an adult character in the Charlie Brown movies. You can hear the clock on the wall tick with each second like an annoying vibration in your all too sensative ears and that fly in the back corner has ADD as it buzzes around, unsettled. It's as if everything is magnified. The stool you're stuck sitting on is all but too comfortable for your poor little bottom and your lower back starts to pulse from bad posture and lack of support. It's like you're slowly dying.

I just sit there with my head on my hands, eyes dulled over, mouth slightly open, and feet swinging back and forth because my legs are too short to reach the floor. Every so often I seem to feel the need for a change in position, so I sit up for a few minutes before I again realize why exactly it was that I was slouching against the desk in front of me and I resume my previous pose.

The critiques go on for over an hour and half. And then when we finally reach the final project, my prof goes into talking about our next assignment. It's hard to stay focused when all I'm thinking about is how dry my throat is, how much I wish I had the last hour of my life back and how I'm going to go across the street and order a raspberry mocha when I'm finally allowed to leave this overly hot prison of a studio classroom.

And guess what?

Our next project is about making something traditionally considered ugly and turning it into something conceived as beautiful. Then we are to take something traditionally considered beautiful and make it ugly.

Ooooh boy I don't know what I'm going to do with all the excitment in the air....*drools*

Long Week Doesn't Even Begin To Cover It

Life is what takes place when you are flying around at 100 miles an hour and your brain is nine ways from Sunday.

Last week at camp was hell week. And I mean that in the most devlish way possible.

Good thing there was no over night camp last week.

(I might have died.)

You see, we have the regulars. The kids that come back every week all summer. And then we have the floaters. The kids that maybe show up for one week or two. Possibly three if they're feeling ambitious. Sometimes you like them. Sometimes you don't.

I usually do.

Except for this week.

I love my job working with the Day Camp at Twinlow. Love it! However, I have recently found out that there are some weeks I will love more than other weeks and not everything is hunky dory-dory.

When you have five boys who are all cousins and one is five, one is seven and the rest are six, you think you can handle it. They're related. They'll be good friends. Not much work to do. WRONG. Oh so incredibly wrong. I'm talking in terms of you couldn't wronger (bad grammar because those kids have made me lose my mind, I swear).

These boys couldn't be trusted in a room by themselves. They picked on each other. They punched each other. They head butted each other in the eye. We had to seperate them during rest time so they each had their own room. That sort of made the other kids jealous because they wanted their own room too. Until I kindly informed them that having your own room meant you were in loads of trouble - then they were okay with not having their own room.

Anyway, I'm terrificly glad, enthralled even, that those mouthy boys will not be participating next week.

There were some fun moments though. Like the all out Pudding Fight that I did not want to be a part of, where dear, lovely, ever charming Princey decided to slather chocolate pudding on my middle. To make up for covering my jeans in pudding he's taking me to a movie.

Also the extra large slip'n'slide that didn't follow the curve of the hill, so when I tell you that I went off the slip'n'slide, I really went OFF THE SLIP'N'SLIDE. My body will thank me for that after my wounds heal. Ha, ha.

And last night was a big church barbeque at the city park with hot dogs, music, friends, fun and a large game of Lava Tag in Ft. Sherman Park. Followed by a serman, some useless standing around and then off to Dockside for some delectable Gooeys. Oh yes, enjoyable for sure. After that Prince and I headed off with one of his friends to play some video games.

There was some extreme disappointment on Prince Charming's end when we found out that the game we all wanted to play was left in Staff Housing and NOT in my PSP. Did I mention the extreme disappointment? Because it was the second time we had visited said friend with intent to play and had our epic plans thwarted. Anywho, the boys played and I fell alseep on Prince's lap until it was time to leave.

Oh the eventful days of life. I honestly don't think it could get much better...

Fun? Or Something Sort Of Like It

So it turns out that I have to wait two weeks to see the doctor again, and in the mean time I need to write a letter of appeal for my financial aid situation and fill out scholarships until they are coming out my ears.

My doctor told me that I probably have an ovarian cyst and that she'll know more on Monday after she speaks with the other doctors in her firm.

But I've decided that I hate ultrasounds and I never want to be pregnant because I hate the feeling of having to pee all the time, and then going to an appointment to have a technician push on my already over full bladder. That my dear Watson, is torture.

Mom told me I'll change my tune when I'm older, and she's probably right. However, for now, I'm not in the market to produce offspring. Which is a good thing, since I'm not married and if I ever did get pregnant when I wasn't married my dad would probably kill Prince Charming. It's understandable. But we don't do anything, so there's nothing to worry about.

Anyway, moving on to different subjects I got to spend time with my amazing friend Ariel. We spent a few much needed catching up hours together before she left me for a Shocks game in Spokane. Ha, ha. It was nice to see her and talk with her about things that only she and I understand. Besides that we are both comical and entertain each other beyond all reason, so we practically spend the entire day laughing at one another. It. is. awesome. You really have no idea. :)

AND some of the best news is that The Keeper purchased an Xbox 360 yesterday along with Halo 3, and then he promptly put me in a game while never having played an Xbox before. He decided to kill me at any point he could as initiation into the game. Thanks a bunch bro. Much appreciated. See if I ever play with you again.

Okay, so that might be kind of a lie because I'm incredably competitive and know that I will indeed play halo three with him in the near and distant futures. Oh boy.

Well, the parents seem to have returned from fishing? Don't know for sure, but I'm off to get some breakfast anyway. :)

Updated Life Stories From The Girl On Summer Vacation

Holy WOW! I have not posted anything for a while and I have a bunch of new posts on my blogroll to read since I've left cyberworld for the weekend to spend some much needed bonding time with the Prince of my life. We have watched movies, we have been to the beach, we have been to church and we have picnicked on a blanket downtown at the park. We have been to Spokane and we have chatted with both of our families. And it seems that we have been going non stop since I got home Friday afternoon from school.

The move went pretty smoothly. We got all of my dorm room packed away in my grandparents' Denali and my mom and dad's Yukon XL and it wasn't even hard. The Keeper and Prince-y came along with my parents to help move things down to the cars - but according to Dad they didn't work as hard as he was hoping they would have. Go figure. ;-)

Saturday I spent doing household chores in the morning - like mowing the lawn. Then Saturday night I was with my man

Okay, quick side note. I hate verizon. Apparently if you are married a man for 21 years, your name is on the account and the bill comes addressed to you, you are STILL not authorized to call and turn off the voicemailbox that came with your upgrade.

HOW can this be? When my mom is the one that SET UP the account, she has handled everything since the account was created and the stupid idiot phone call customer talker-toer person (man where is my vocabulary right now?) tells you that they can't let you change anything or even discuss the bill with you (even though you pay it on a regular basis) because you are not authorized?

I have a special F word for what I'd like to say to stupid ignorant people like that. I don't understand. You can't explain anything because your grasp of the English language is ZERO and you're smarts are somewhere that even the greatest world explorer known to man kind could not even attempt to begin to locate with his state of the art GPS. UGH. You people make me want to pull my hair out. I don't want to get older and be on my own if I have to deal with stupid incompetant people LIKE YOU. Go back to the warm hole you crawled out of and leave bigger issues, like stupid voicemail boxes, to those of us who understood God when He said "Brains?" and we didn't think "Planes?" and say "No thanks, I'll take the train."

Idiots.

*sighs*

Okay, anyway, the weekend? Shall we?

Saturday night we watched The Keeper's soccer game which ended in a tie, I wrestled with The Keeper's best friend, and we had barbeque for dinner. Delish. Sunday morning the Keeper had another soccer game, so DP, The Mechanic, Prince Charming and I went to church sans the parents - who were at the game.

And then Prince and I hit up Spokane for Prince's much needed aquiration of some new t-shirts for work. After we got back to town, the afternoon was spent being lazy at the beach downtown eating our pizza pockets and consuming our totally-bad-for-you-but-so-tasty-you-don't-care energy drinks.

But after we decided to cease our sun exposure, we headed to Prince Charming's house to watch Terminator 2 and eat grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup. Yum.

So thus has my weekend ended and now I'm off for a day with the mother whilst I wait to hear back about my application to the local pottery shop for a summer job so I can buy my much coveted by The Keeper Mitsubishi Lancer - if that's even how you spell it. I don't really know, I just want a car since I had to depart with my beloved Denali Saturday when my grandparents confiscated it for use of toting plants from the nursery to their Spokane Valley home.

Their yard better look awesome. :-)

Anyway, I'm glad to be home. And to NOT have to travel back to the 'Scow for school until late August. *big cheesy grin*

In The Event Of Dinner

Sleeping Beauty is across the table from me. Belle is to my left and Zelda is to my right. We are at Bob's. Eating dinner. At Bob's.

Zelda is going off of no sleep in over 24 hours. Belle and Sleeping Beauty are sick. We are all in a goofy mood. And the four of us in a goofy mood = wierd conversations that normal people just won't be able to comprehend, understand, or feel like they even remotely grasp the vast concepts we are explaining to one another. Nor can any normal person match our insane capacity to be very whitty on subjects we know just enough about to be dangerous.

Like states.

Idaho, Montana and Wyoming in particular.

You see, we are all good down home Idaho girls. We hail from the panhandle. We think that people from Boise are generally stuck up. Classic North vs. South mind set. But we totally rock - I'm telling you.

You see, we LOVE that people all around the world know where Idaho is, but people from our own country don't. Among our favorite questions we've been asked about our home state are as follows:

"Do you have malls in Idaho?"

"Do you guys get the same movies we do?"

"Wait...you're from Iowa?"

"Idaho...you guys have a lot of potatoes, right?"

Well actually, most of the potatoes are grown in southern Idaho and up here in the north we get our potatoes from Washington. We're NOT from Iowa - that's not even IN the pacific northwest. And yes, we get the same movies as everyone else in the USA. We're not a foreign country - I promise. We also have malls. They are not as big as yours, nor as famous. And nor do we get the big department stores like Nordstroms, etc. But we DO have malls. And trust me, on a Saturday afternoon when the weather sucks, that's where you'll find us.

We moved on from our hate of non-Idahoans dumb questions to the state borders. The Keeper told me that the guy who charted the state borders outlined the wrong mountain range and Idaho should actually be a lot more square. Well, that launched Sleeping Beauty into a tale about how they were going to make Yellowstone into one state instead of having it devided, but everyone down there threw a hissy fit.

I told you. We know just enough to be dangerous. Doesn't mean we have ALL the facts.

Anyway, we were pretending to each be a different part of Yellowstone. We were having an argument about policies within the park. Sleeping Beauty was talking as if one state owned more of the park than other states, so she would have more of a say in a vote.

So Zelda says she has more wolves.

And Belle has more Buffalo. Or as we laughed about - Flufflebo.

Our solution in an arugment against Sleeping Beauty and her eternal reign over Yellowstone National Park? RELEASE THE WOLVES!! And then Belle chimed in. SAVE THE FLUFFLEBO!!!!

Yes.

We are awesome.

We know.

Then after dinner we were headed into the elevator to go back to our respective dorm rooms. Belle got in the elevator first and Zelda nearly charged her. But Belle didn't know it was Zelda at first and she was about to turn around and be like "DUDE! Why are you in such a hurry to get in the elevator? It's not GOING ANYWHERE!"

We just all about DIED laughing.

My friends rock.

Like seriously.

You're jealous.

End of story. :-)

Dear Montana,
Suck it.
Love, Wyoming.

Short, Sweet and To The Point

Dear Strawberry Covered Waffle,

We have met more than enough in the past two days for breakfast, and while I love the smooth buttery taste of your crispy golden flesh, I don't know how much more I can take. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to find a new breakfast companion. Don't take it personal, okay? It's not you, I promise. It's me.

Yours Truly,
The Girl Who's Stomach Needs Better Nourishment

***

Dear Sunshine!

I'm so glad you finally decided to show us Idaho-dwellers your beautiful face. We have missed you terribly and are happy beyond all reason that you have finally chosen to grace us with your presence. Yesterday was a nice outside-wear-your-shorts-and-run-around-barefoot kind of day and I want to personally thank you for that.

LOVE,
Someone Who Needs Some Brighter Days In Her Life

***

Dear Classes,

As the schoolyear is drawing to an end, you all are wrapping up so quickly! But there are some issues I have with you as of late. See, some of you have decided to give me outlandish projects that I'm not at all excited for, and I was wondering if you could take them back? Please reconsider the scale of your projects and talk to each other about how I only need one big project at a time.

Thanks,

Flat Tire Episode

So back to my weekend? No? You're bored of that? Unfortunate. Well, I suppose I shall tell you anyway because I'm mean, cold hearted, inconsiderate and I really just want to tell you about my Sunday. Please? You're relenting? Okay, off I go...

Sunday morning the Princess was tapping on my door to get me up. We went downstairs to eat, and then back up the stairs to get ready for church. We were going to meet my grandparents there and they were going to take Princess M for the afternoon so that I could come back to Hayden, drop off my air mattress, say hi to my parents and Prince-y and head back to the 'Scow. Well, that sort of happened.

I took Princess M and we found our way to church. I'd only been there once before, and I didn't quite remember where it was, but my Aunt told me where to go and Princess M has been there plenty of times, so it wasn't too hard to find. I got Princess up to her class and then headed to the autitorium to find the Grandparents. Oh brother. There were so many people! I just kept inching closer and closer to the front to see if I could find them.

Eventually I saw my Grandmother's frill of white curls and my Grandpa's slouching form on the chair next to her. Song service had just started. I usually love song service, but I'm not one of those people that comes to church to sing - even though I enjoy singing. But these songs were all slow and most of them I didn't know. Well, not knowing songs doesn't usually bug me and I sing along with them anyway because the words are always posted, but these songs just didn't grab my attention.

Then came the announcements, along with the offering. Well, at LCCC they sing one song while the offering is being collected and then the Pastor comes up for the message. Uhhhm, no. After the offering at this church? More singing. More slow songs. The lady in front of me was really into it, and slightly entertaining to watch. And I had this older Chinese lady singing in my right ear. I wish you could have heard her - it was like a bird kinda, but really loud and not on key. She kept throwing me off and I finally tried to turn my head so my ear wasn't the direct focus of her vocal chord vibrations. This worked for a little while.

Song service drug onward.

And onward...

And finally I thought it was over.

But they did two more songs while the Pastor who was going to give the message was on his knees in front of the congregation praying while we were singing our melancholy hearts out to the slow tunes that seemed like they would never end.

Finally the pastor took the stage to deliver his message. He rambled on and on about this upcoming project in July that he's excited for before he even GOT to his message. Then he talked about Jesus going through Sumaria and talking to the woman at the well about receiving Living Water. The Pastor kept relating the woman and the diciples back to Nicodemus who was like 'I don't get it.' Pastor thought this was hilarious. It was amusing the first time. After that? Not so hilarious, sorry. And he rambled on and on repeating that you can't "quench your spiritual thirst with physical water." And I totally agree, but how many times do you have to tell us that in the same sentence? Like eight? Yeah, okay. We get it.

And the pastor, to emphasize his point, would burst into song during his sermon. Uhm, that's a new one. Something I'm totally not used to. I think he did it three times that morning.

There was cool video shown though, of Penn from Penn & Teller (Penn & Teller right? correct me if I'm wrong please). Anywho, Penn is an athiest, but a fan met him after a show and handed him a pocket version of the Bible. Penn was impressed and even though he's still an athiest, the man made a step in the right direction. He wasn't condemning or judgemental, just caring and loving and nice. Which is what we all ought to be.

Anyway, after the video, the pastor spoke some more about the same thing he had been talking about earlier. I was so ready to be out of there and to go home. And then there was more singing and people coming up to the front to pray with prayer team members. Finally we were dismissed. I went with Grandma out into the lobby and she found Gramps while I went for Princess M. Then we headed off to the Old Country Buffet for brunch.

Grandpa got Princess M her food, because she is allergic to dairy and has to be careful about what types of foods she consumes. Papa brought her back fruit and bacon and jello. He brought back some apples with cottage cheese on them, which Princess can't have. Grandpa took them off her plate and put them on the napkin beside her plate so she wouldn't eat them. Well, Princess M was about to throw a royal fit because she thought the apple looked disgusting.

"Then don't look at them," I told her.

"But I have to when I get my fork," she whined.

"Then move the apples!" I said. "For crying out loud kiddo." Grandma softly laughed in the background. Princess M was not amused.

Grandpa drove me back to the church after brunch to retrieve my car so I could come back to Hayden. Princess M forgot to grab some playclothes for the afternoon and was whining about wanting to go back to her house for some different clothes. I told her the clothes she was wearing were fine. Grandma told her that she could take her tights off once she got to their house. Princess M was not amused.

"Princess, you are FINE," I told her. Her lip popped out in a pouty face and her chin went downward. Little baby tears started to form at her eyes. I'm mean. I know. Poor Princess finding out the world does not revolve around her. But she perked up a few minutes later and the world was fine again.

"I'm gonna miss you," she told me when I had to get out of the car. It was the same line she greeted me with that morning when I opened the door to see her pretty little face and mass of blonde curls running to give me a hug.

"I'll miss you too Princess. You be good for Grandma and Papa, okay? Do what they tell you," I smiled. She nodded her head. I hugged her and waved goodbye.

The afternoon I spent in downtown CdA with Prince Charming. We walked the boardwalk and walked over to the park. We sat on the concrete wall that seperates the sand from the sidewalk and grass and looked at the lake. I don't spend a lot of one on one time with Prince-y. Usually we are with his friends, or his family or my family. Hardly ever do we find ourselves with only each other for company. Which I suppose my dad looks at as a good thing, but I like having him to myself occasionally. It reminds me why I like him so much. We can talk about anything, or we can just be together and that's enough. I don't always have to be kissing him, we don't always have to be doing something, we can just enjoy each other.

After four, I headed to the Holiday station to fill up with gas and then took Prince-y to his house. I started to notice that it was hard to turn left, but didn't really think anything of it, other than it was just a little odd. Prince and I are in the kitchen eating chips and salsa when his mom comes in from the garage.

"Cinderella," she says, "Your front right tire is looking low."

Well, earlier that day my own mom said one of my tires looked low, but my dad checked it and thought it was fine, so I didn't really think much of her comment. A few moment later, Prince and I were walking out to my car so I could leave back to the 'Scow when I took one look at my right front tire and thought "no freaking way." Whipping out the handy cell phone in my pocket I dialed my dad. No answer. Dialed the house. Busy signal. Dialed my mom.

"Hello?"

"My tire's flat."

"You're tire's FLAT? Are you back at school?"

"No mom, I'm at Prince Charming's house."

"You're still with Prince Charming?"

"Yes, mom."

"What's up?" Dad's voice.

"The tires flat."

"How flat?"

"I don't know dad. Really flat."

"Okay, I'll be there soon." Click. Back inside Prince-y's house we have some dinner and wait for my dad to arrive. Once he gets there he fills the tire up enough that I can drive home with intent to just stay the night and come home on Monday morning after we fix the tire.

I pull into the driveway after I left Prince Charming who was worried beyond all reason and kept telling me to drive safe. Love you Honey. :-)

Dad waved at me to stop. He was on the cell with my mom, talking about switching cars and giving me the Yukon to drive after we hit up the gas station to finish filling up the tire with air. Dad hopped in the passenger side and we headed to the Exxon station by the highway. He hops out of the car and fills up the tire with air. Well, I'm sitting there, on a bench by the car, and I can hear this noise. It's coming from my car. Which is turned off.

I sit down by the tire. It sounds like air is escaping. Loudly. I don't know enough about tires to know if this is the tire or if this is from my car. "Umm Dad? It sounds like air is escaping from this tire." He walks back over to me and puts his ear down by the tire. Then he starts feeling around the tire to see if he can find where air is coming from. This rip in my tire has got to be huge.

He tells me to dive the car back home and park it in the garage. I take my gear and put it in his big blue Dodge truck and we head to church where my mom has her Yukon. The tire is leaking fast and furious and the spair is flat too. So we make the switch and I drive the Yukon XL down to the 'Scow. I didn't get out of town til after 6 o'clock, but I made it. On my way out of town I called my lovely Prince to give him the heads up that I was headed out of town. I hate calling people, but aside from my biological family, he is the only person that I will put my phobia aside and call. It's painful. I hate talking on the phone. But I do it. :-)

Anyway, that is my awesome Sunday. I made it back down to school just fine and bought myself a grape juice from the vending machines as a reward for a stressful day. Ha, ha.

Weekend Recap, anyone?

Friday's drive home was long, but much better than my rainy Sunday afternoon drive down. The sun was shining, the grass was green and I had kickin' awesome tunes to sing my lungs out with. I got to see the lovely Prince-y for an hour at the park before I had to leave him and drive to Spokane to see my lovely aunt and cousin Princess M.

Princess M is the most energetic seven year old I've ever met. She's entertaining and knows what she wants and just how she wants it. And let me tell you, she wants it all and she wants it delivered. But I love her anyway. :-)

I spent the entire weekend with this amazing little girl who, I must confess, drove me absolutely nuts. In a good way. She taught me a lot about parenting. A ton. Like an elephant load. I felt like mommy for the weekend - which was both exciting and a little nerve racking, but also very enjoyable, rewarding and educating.

You see, my lovely little cousin sufferes from only child princess of the world syndrome. She comes from a life where it's 'all about me' and I grew up in really an opposite sort of life - one where I wanted to believe it was all about me, but knowing at the same time that it very much wasn't. And I don't live with Princess M all the time, obviously, so I don't know her basic routines or really how she does a lot of what she does - but I know one thing, and that's that I don't like how she bosses people around. If that's one thing that annoys me, it's her bossiness. I don't take orders from a 7 year old. I barely tolerate orders from 47 and 50 year old parents. Now, I have to listen to some of what Princess says though, simply because it is her house and I don't know how a lot of things go down, but in spite of her bossiness, she is also good at listening.

Saturday we spent with my grandparents who live just across town from the lovely Princess M. We kind of invited ourselves over for lunch, but I LOVE to see my grandparents and visit with them and M just adores her Papa, so they graciously let us invade their home for a few hours. I watched in amazment at how bossy M could be.

"Grandma, clean this up!" M said in reference to a wet countertop she wanted to climb up on.

"Excuse me? We don't talk to Grandma that way. You can clean the counter up yourself," I tell her.

"Okay," she sighs as if greatly inconvenienced. She grabs a papertowel and cleans up the water.

"You can't climb up there M," Grandma warns. M listens. Good girl. :-)

We spent the rest of the afternoon after lunch out in the back yard doing flips. Using my AWESOMELY EPIC past gymnast SKILLS THAT KILL, I flipped and flopped around that backyard like it was nobody's business. And now, today, I am paying the price with sore achey muscles that haven't been used in years. That being said, I am so proud I can still actually DO all that stuff I learned when I was younger. It's like riding a bike kinda - it doesn't really go away :-)

After we got home from the grandparents, Princess M insists on walking to the store for a soy steamer. She doesn't really tell me where the store is, other than it's really close to her house. I'm really hesitant to go because I don't know where we're headed - I'm thinking espresso stand in a parking lot? Princess tries to tell me that I don't have to go because she very well knows the way and has been there plenty of times. I keep asking her if she's really walked to this place before, and she keeps telling me yes. Finally I consent to the escapade and down the street we go.

Princess M tells me that she's walked this way with her mom before. I have a hard time believing this because I know my aunt and I know my cousin. But if in fact it is true that Auntie walked with Princess to this store, then it must be close? Right? Well, we get to the bottom of the hill and around the corner. You can see down the street pretty well, but there is no espresso stand in my line of view.

"Are you sure you know where we're going?" I ask the Princess.

"OF COURSE I do," she states matter-of-factly. "I've been there a hundred, no, a THOUSAND times!"

"If you say so," I say with a half sigh. We get farther down the street, and I'm still not seeing anything. We're starting to approach a busier street that I'm not so thrilled about walking on. So I turn to M again and ask her for the hundreth time if she's really walked to this store because it seems REALLY far away for her seven year old legs to walk.

"I'm sure. It's just up here a little farther. Like FEET away! We don't even have to cross the street!" She assures me. By this time we've already walked pretty far, so even though my head is screaming at me to go back and get the car, the logic says we've got to be almost there, so a car would be pointless really.

So we get up to the busy street, and it turns out there is a path off in the grass and we don't actually have to walk on the street. "This seems really far away from your house," I say to Princess M.

"No, I've walked this way before," she says again. I sigh. What else can I do? She's already dragged me this far. Ha, ha. Well, then she wants to pretend that we are poor. I'm the mommy and she's the kid and we only have enough money for a few groceries. Princess M goes into poor little girl mode and starts talking with a funny accent that somewhat sounds like a bad British impersonation. But it makes me laugh, so I go along with her story.

We get to the store, which is like a half a mile away, and Princess M walks right up to the Starbuck's counter to order her soy steamer. The guy behind the counter is kind of cute and a little flirty, but Princess M does most of the talking. About how we walked to the store. We walked out of the store a few minutes later with a kid's soy steamer and tall vanilla bean frapp. Delish.

Then we make our treck back home and Princess M managaes to spill the contents of her purse on the pine needle laiden path. She gets a little frustrated because she had told me to carry her purse. But the trip was her idea and I figured she could carry her own purse. She's 7 - she can handle it. So I hold her empty soy steamer cup for her as she picks up her silver coins from the ground. We scan the area to make sure we didn't miss any and I hand her back her cup. She has two hands. She's fine.

We get back to her neighborhood and one of her friends is out on the lawn jumping on a trampoline. M wants to play too, so I take her purse and empty cup and head to her house. Huge sigh of relief as I plop my lazy bum down on the couch and rest while my energetic cousin is now someone else's joy for a few minutes.

Not a half hour later does my aunt and uncle and their crew show up for dinner. Talk about amazing timing. So I'm sitting on the couch talking to my aunt about our day so far, and come to find out that Princess M has NEVER walked to the store EVER. They always take the car. What a trickster I have for a cousin. :-) None-the-less, it was good excersize for us. Ha, ha.

Then I had to give the Princess a bath. She played in the tub with her toys for a half hour and then I had to wash her hair. This is an adventure for me, because I only remember having my hair washed by my mother before I had to take over the task and wash my own hair. But it wasn't too hard to figure out.

Princess M had to have her hair combed because she said it would dry faster. So I combed her long blonde curly locks for a few minutes until there were no tangles. Then I told her to put her pajamas on. So she went into her room and I went into the room where I was sleeping because it has a computer and I was chatting with Prince Charming on ebuddy (dot) com. Princess M peeked her head in through the doorway and told me she didn't want to put her pajamas on while her hair was still wet. I was not about to let her run around clad in just her underwear and promptly told her that she needed to put some clothes on. This greatly displeased her and she went off to her room pouting.

I could hear her openly sobbing in her bedroom, so I went to check on her and make sure that she was really only just upset about the pajamas and not physically hurt. Her tear streaked face said it all.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Huge overly dramatic sob.

"What are you doing?"

"Getting the bed ready."

"Put your pajamas on please. I'll let you talk to Prince Charming if you quite crying." Immediate perk up. The pajamas slide on and the tears subside quick as they came.

"How do we talk to Prince Charming on the computer? Can we hear his voice?"

"No, we type to him and he types back." This greatly amused her, sitting on my lap typing to my boyfriend who is just awesome enough to engage in her little girl anticts. He is amazing if he is anything at all. And then Princess wanted to hear his voice, so he called my cell. Princess M could barely contain her giggles. And then I sent her off to bed.

And today's recap will have to wait until tomorrow because this post seems long enough. Anyway, I hope you all had a totally fab weekend. :-)

Slightly Obsessive

So my new obsession, because it changes on a fairly regular basis - just ask anyone who knows me - is a song. Runaway by Avril Lavigne. I'm addicted. I've been playing it over and over and over on YouTube because I'm afraid to try and steal it off limewire while I'm at school. Our school monitors those kinds of things and I'm not a fan of paying thousands of dollars because I downloaded a song without paying for it.

Anyway, I didn't even know this song existed until today. It started when I was listening to a podcast from church. The one from Feb 22 - that's the one Pastor R did title Craving Contentment. Anywho, I was looking for this one - even though I was actually IN church that day - because that's the day TO came to dance. Well, in my Dance 100 class, my grade isn't the best that it could be. SO in order to counteract the subawesomeness that is my grade, I opted for some extra credit. So I asked my Prof if I could write about TO and she said yes. So earlier today, about noon-ish, this was my mission.

I found the podcast just fine, but the problem with the podcast is that it's all audio and no visual. *sigh* So I go to the LCCC website to see if there was a video recording. I'm in luck - or at least I thought I was in luck. There was the link to the video for Craving Contentment except that it was really a lie becuase the video that popped up was NOT in fact Contentment. It was Pastor M with the week prior to's sermon. *huge sigh* Guess I'll have to go off memory about what exactly it looked like, but I have her interview from the podcast, so I can write about her motives. Go me!

Well then I am sitting there, extra credit paper mostly written, but I don't remember what song she danced to. Back to the internet. Pastor R says it's titled Beautiful and I'm thinking it's the Bethany Dillon song, but I have to find it now to make sure. Like my Prof is going to know the difference, but I feel like satisfying my curiousity and love of acuracy (haha, love of acuracy. that's a joke you see, because actually I will argue with you whether I'm wrong or not). Anyway, I find the song on playlist.com because i LOVE that cite and I've given up on myspace. Lately myspace only has pieces of songs or they'll have the link, but no song. Most of the time they have every song EXCEPT the one you want. But PlayList has more often than not had the song I'm looking for. But anyway, I digress...

So I find the song. And then I find another Bethany Dillon song I love - All I Need. I added that one to my playlist in the side bar if you care to listen. :-) Anyway, I have to back track a little before I can tell you the rest of the story. So I guess where I started from wasn't the best place to start? And then I suppose I actually lied to you when I said that it all started from the podcast. Sorry about that. Move on. Ha, ha. Anyway, I was Facebooking earlier because I am what people refere to as epically awesome (aka lame and lazy) and I took this FB Quiz to further proove my awesomeness. Well, the quiz was title 'what song are you?' and being the music junkie that I am thought "Oh awesome! Let's see what lame song it gives me?" I clicked the multiple choice answers and it spit out that I am indeed the song Hot by Avril Lavigne. See where I'm going with this?

So after I get my Bethany Dillon fix, I get all curious about this Avril song because I've never heard of it before. So I type in the song and artist and have me a listen. It's a good song I suppose, but that just got me in wont of more Avril because I like her voice. So I erase the song title from the search bar so that I get a plethora of Avril songs. Then I just start clicking random Avril songs because music junkie though I am, I'm not a religious follower of every artist out there and there's a fair chunk of music that I don't know even exists. Although I suppose by admitting that I don't know it exists that I'm really admitting it does exist because now it's been mentioned. How's that for brain warping? Ha, ha.

So I click Innocence. Not impressed. It's a little too slow right off the get-go. And I don't mean to offend here, if you like that song it's fine. But I was just in the mood for something a little more upbeat. I could have clicked Girlfriend, but in the interest of exposing myself to new and different sounds I was going for titles I didn't recognize. I clicked Why next, but that one was a little too slow for me also. What luck I was having!

And then I saw it. On the bottom of the second page. Runaway. Going off of my past experiences, I hesitated a little before clicking it, not really wanted to get a strike three with another slow song. But as the cursor hovered over the link, I decided to give it a try. And my ears were increadably pleased.

I mean, it's not everyday that you find a song that applies to your life basically to a T. Sometimes there are songs that just pop out of seemingly nowhere and say BOOM! HERE I AM TO RELATE YOUR LIFE! LOVE ME! And that's exactly what this song did. I've been feeling so overwhelmed by just about everything lately. I mean really. School is starting to finish up for the year so I have all these projects to do, and finals will be here before I know it. To top it off I have work and I juggle coming home weekends with schoolwork that usually waits til Sunday afternoon before I even look at it. Plus with registration for next year looming in front of my face, that adds even more pressure to the 'should i really stay with this major' angst that will not just go away.

And so when I heard this chorus, my heart smiled. My lips parted. My eyes lit up. And I drank it in. Because it's EXACTLY what I want to do RIGHT NOW.

I feel so alive
I can't help myself
Don't you realize?

I just wanna scream and lose control
Throw my hands up and let it go
Forget about everything and run away, yeah
I just wanna fall and lose myself
Laughing so hard it hurts like hell
Forget about everything and run away, yeah

And now I've been listening to it for the better part of my day. It makes me want to run outside. It makes me want to drive over the speed limit with all the windows down, music blaring and just forget about everything. It makes me want to leave this place and never look back. Just drop what I'm doing and get out of town.

I probably won't do that though, because the student in me knows that I need to stay here and finish out the year and that this summer I'm going to have work. But it's one of my greatest desires to one day flip a coin to determine my destination and take a trip with only left turns. Well, mostly left turns. Possibly I might sneak a few right turns in there - but I'm a rebel. :-)

Dear Whomever - Please Help

Dear Spring,

I am writing you yet another letter. You are too tricky! Taunting us Summer-Lovers with your nice warm sunshine and pleasant breezes only to find out that you are going to switch moods and dump rain on us later in the week! I beg of you to reconsider - I like the sunshine too much! Can it stay? Please? Pleeeeaaaaseee?

Dear Creator of Math,

What WERE you thinking? Who in their right mind enjoys this torture!!!??? Oh that's right. No one. Because you are all a bunch of filthy left brainers. Take your numbers and get out of town. You have been rejected.

Sincerely,
Someone Who's Going To Need A Brain Transplant After This Semester's Pathetic Excuse For A Math Class

***

Dear English Essay,

You are SO not my favorite. Can you write yourself and be done with it already? I'm sick of this! Teleportation is not NEAR as interesting as I would have hoped.

Yours,
The Girl Who's Sick Of School

***

Summer,

We need to have a talk. Spring is being crummy and I need your love and sunshine-y goodness. Get here ASAP.

Dear Mind,

Can you make yourself up yet? Flipping and flopping like it's nobody's business. Just focus already and quit with the procrastination.

How Awesome Am I?

Before you answer that question with a completely sarcastic "Oh Cinderella, you are the most awesome person in the world. Just. Totally. Rad." rethink that. And go with something a little softer on my bruised ego right about now? Thanks.

Bruised ego? What the heck, Cind? Get over yourself. You have NO ego!!

OH YES. I. DO.

And right now it hurts. Hurts bad.

Right! I'm dragging this out. Move on, woman! For crying out loud!

Okay, so here's the deal about how INSANELY EPIC I am. In my hurried-packing-frantic-Belle-will-be-here-soon phase on Sunday I forgot three very important items. 1. Mouthwash. At least I remembered toothbrush and toothpaste.... 2. acne wash. well, it's not that bad right now anyway. and I still have my topical. 3. my totally awesome and completley devine venus razor. so i can have those devinely smooth pits and legs.

Well, I realized this morning I forgot the mouthwash and the acne scrub because I knew they were in the same plastic bag. But I momentarily forgot that I put the razor in that bag too instead of in my make-up kit like normal.

So I'm talking to Prince Charming on IM when I have an itch on my calf. No big deal, just casually scratch it with my fingernails that are in desperate need of a trim. Ahh! Hair! *sigh* Gross. I'll just have to shave it tonight. For whatever reason I tell this to Prince-y, who really could care less and accuses me of being random.

Then he proceeds to make fun of me for being 'hairy.' If I'm correct, he used the word sexy somewhere in there in TOTAL and COMPLETE sarcasm. Thanks Hon. And then, I realize that shaving tonight is impossible. My hands fly to my mouth and because Prince Charming likes to view me on the webcam (stalker), he notices that something just is not right.

Prince: What?

Cinderella: shoot me?

P: why?

C: my razor is in hayden!

P: ahahahahahahahahaha. Don't wear shorts.

Thanks AGAIN Prince Charming. You ROCK. Only sometimes not. KIDDING. Because he did make me laugh.

P: use the old fashioned sharpened rock and water approach

C: yeah, I'll get right on that.

So now I'll have to wait a week before I can shave anything. Unless I can con Zelda, Sleeping Beauty or Belle into graciously allowing me to jack their razor for a much needed shave? We'll see. It'll be an adventure! And we all KNOW how much I love those! :-)

Update for those who care: (which is none of you, I'm not fooled. haha) I found out the Underground has razors. So I bought one. And now I'm smooth. :-) Yay!

Procrastination

Today is Wednesday. It's Wednesday...in the early evening. And I have homework to do, a test to take and questions to answer. Yet here I sit, not doing anything of importance because today is just one of those days. You know, the kind of day where you want to do absolutely nothing at all whatsoever and you just aren't suppose to do that? You're supposed to be proactive, right? And do the million and six things on your lengthy to-do list that just seems to get longer by the minute because you are remembering things from last week that still need to be done? That is so how my day has been going.

I didn't have 8:30 class this morning, but I woke up at 5 anyway. I mean, I did go back to sleep, but it's not the same. Why couldn't I just sleep through it all? And to top it all off, I have a JoBros song stuck in my head. It's been there since yesterday. Woohoo. You better BB good to me, and I'll BB good to you. We'll be happy as can be... Yeah, that's where my brain is.

And I had to work at 1 today. One to close and my co-worker was out sick. Whoopdiddydo. My Lead stayed with me til 3, but then she went home so her husband could have the car. That left me, at work, til close, by myself. So. Much. Fun. Yeah, I have only closed at Joe's ONCE and I had my co-worker to lean on. This time, it was just me. We are supposed to be able to close in 35 minutes - um, the first night by myself? I closed in an hour. Maybe an hour and fifteen minutes. I. Am. Awesome.

But now all I want is a nap and I still have homework that needs to be done. Where is my veg out hour? Where is naptime when you need it? When I lived at home, my mom would always ask "Is it naptime yet?" And being the mouthy sarcastic children that my father has raised us to be, we would give her endless crap for being tired. But now, I want to know where naptime went! I need my sleeps! ...Okay, rant over. I think. For now. :-)

Witicism On The Subject

I want so much to just be witty and funny all the time. I like to make people laugh. I like to be interesting. I never want to be exactly the same - but I don't ever want to be terribly different. I realize though, that I am slightly contradictory to myself. I think hypocrite is entirely the wrong word - though I KNOW I have my moments, as does everyone.

I fully believe that I am slightly narcissistic or however that word is spelled. Somewhere deep inside me I want to know that I make a difference in people's lives. That if I suddenly disappeared people would miss me. I don't know exactly why, but I've always wanted to be the girl that could wrap the old man around her tiny little finger and make even the most crusty old guy smile when I walked into the room. Probably because old men fascinate me. And I don't mean in a gold digger sense. Ew. Sick. Gross. I'm talking old men like grandfathers. Mostly because they always have interesting stories and interesting pasts and their sense of humor is generally off the charts. The movie Return To Me with Minnie Driver? The old men in that movie are the best!

I suppose this is part of the reason I feel so cheated when it comes to my dad's dad. My grandpa was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease I believe soon after my parents started dating or got married. I don't remember - clearly because I wasn't born yet. Or even thought of. But I know that man has a totally interesting past. I've heard bits and pieces of it - but because of when I came along and how fast his disease has progessed, I've never really got to know him. He's still around, but you can't hardly understand a word he says and that's not his fault at all. But see, then I have my mom's dad on the other side. And he is mostly healthy with just a few old person health issues that come with age. But I don't see him hardly ever. I see my mom's parents WAY more than I see my dad's parents - but it's just not the same. I love them, I really do, but I haven't spent near enough time with them. Ever.

But these aspirations or whatever you want to call them, I don't feel like they will ever come true. I am just me and as special as I am, I don't feel like it's at all impossible to find someone else who is exactly like me. Someone else who is a little better, a little skinnier, a little funnier, a little more unforgettable. To be irriplaceable, one must always be different.

I know there are people out there who love me, and plenty of people would miss me if I ever left - but this knowlege doesn't really change my thoughts on the subject. Whatever. Life is life and I'm here and I'm now and you can't get rid of me. I'm like a bad penny - here forever! Or at least until God calls me home, which hopefully shouldn't be for a long, long time.

Reinvention and Ramblings

Alright so here's the deal - I'm redistributing the code names I use for people. I'm tired of using initials for all my friends and loved ones because so many of us have the same initials and that just plain gets confusing.

I'm calling M Prince Charming. Why? Because I can.

I'm calling K Belle because that's her favorite princess.

I'm calling B Zelda because that's her favorite video game.

I'm calling A Sleeping Beauty because out of all of us, she sleeps the most.

And that makes me Cinderella because she is my favorite princess and always has been.

Now, on to bigger and more important things. Well okay, so I really have nothing super big and entirely important to report other I feel like the Damsel in distress stuck here in this ancient castle guarded by a large dragon while my Prince is off galavanting elsewhere in *ahem* Hawaii. Okay, so I really need to stop beating a dead horse with this Hawaii bit, but seriously. I can not WAIT for Monday so that Prince Charming is back in the same state as me and will communicate with me via the interwebs.

As of right now, I'm also extremely lonely because Belle, Sleeping Beauty and Zelda have left me for the Jazz Fest celebrations going on down at the SUB...or are they at the dome? I don't remember. But I was excited to have the dorm to myself to do with what I please, so sitting here by myself isn't all that bad. Just makes me wish for Prince Charming more than ever.

So I'm sitting here, watching the tele. The channel is turned to Animal Planet and there's a ton of shows about Grizzlies and bear attacks. They pretty much all say the same thing, just present it in different ways. There's really nothing you can do to deterr a bear once it's decided to kill you. And it usually goes for your face/head/neck because they view your mouth as sort of a weapon (ha ha ha). But nevertheless, people end up surviving. One guy got his face torn off and the last thing he remembers is that the bear's eyes were yellow. Yellow eyes. How horrid for a last sighted memory to be. But overall it's interesting and informative and much more attention capturing than those horrid reality TV shows that Belle insists on watching day in and day out.

Okay, so she doesn't watch them day in and day out - mostly just day out because day in we are watching Jon and Kate plus 8 and What Not To Wear. Yes, we are aware that we are the coolest college students on the face of the Earth. Ever. We also like to watch A Baby Story and Bringing Home Baby. It brings out the maternal side of us because us becoming mothers shouldn't happen for a long, long time.

Holy Crap! Okay, so I'm never tent camping in bear country - ever. A curious bear will trample the tent with two paws, drag the whole thing off into the woods - humans inside and all. Then they drag the human out of the tent and explore what you are. They also eat you while your alive instead of just killing you right away. Yikes. Sorry for the graphic information spill, but this show is just shocking!

Alright, well I feel that I've certainly shocked you all enough for one day, so I'm off. My quote for today? I may not know everything, but I know just enough to be dangerous. :-)
