Thursday Photo Fun

Thursdays are my favorite days. I love them. They are just after my long, long Wednesdays and right before my No-School-Fridays. I'm not exactly sure why Thursdays rock my socks, but they do. When I was in high school, Thursdays were the day I went to gymnastics practice after I left the team.

Thursdays LadiesMan doesn't have any school. And conveniently he lets me photograph him. Unlike Prince Charming who asks me why I'm taking pictures because my flash looks like lightning. But I don't like using flash. I'd much rather take advantage of natural lighting. So I tried to use the natural light coming from the open window.

This is LadiesMan. He's put up with a camera in his face for a better part of the afternoon. And he is kind of really ridiculously entertaining....

I wanted to experiment with my camera today. So I tried to figure out macro mode. It worked a little. I celebrated with ice cream. Cherry Garcia is my favorite, but this Half Baked stuff is good too. It has little bits of cookie dough in it. Which I adore.

In all the paper work, brochures, and little booklets that came with my camera there was a picture of a pocket watch. I wanted to imitate it, but I lacked the watch part. I used my keys instead.

The '08 is for the year I graduated. It's cool because if you flip it over it say '80 (duh Ralph, that's not rocket science. It's also not the cool part either, so just hold on to your pants and we'll get there, okay?) My mom graduated in '80. I graduated in '08 therefore making me the most awesome of all of her four children.

If you couldn't already tell, I'm having major fun with this new camera. So far name suggestions include Michelle, Lucy, Ginger, and "The Spy." Thoughts?

  2. Okay so, I LOVE using marco mode. Just so you know. Haha. I don't know why I love it, I just do. I especially like using it when I take pictures of nature. Good stuff.

Also, I don't have school on Fridays either!

PS: your camera is awesome and I want one. I think you should name it "Emi" because it means "picture beautiful" in japanese ( http://www.behindthename.com/name/emi )

  5. I have a Rebel XS, too, and I love it! I took a class at community college last fall to learn how to use it because I felt like I just wasn't getting everything out of it. Now I'm coveting a new lens. Sigh. Not in the budget. Looks like you're getting some great shots with yours!

PS - We'd like to feature you next Friday on Blogtrotting! Can you have a post ready?

  6. I see lots of fun is already being had! Love the '08 shot...well done :D

As for a name suggestion, I haven't 'met' 'the lady' (and plus, I have just about the worst imagination EVER)...but perhaps she could be called Cam (eron)...as in Diaz and I'm sure others that aren't coming to mind ;D
